Protect your child from the "medical misadventure" known as gender-affirming care and to protect your child from sex activism, sex discussions, counselor discussions on sex/sexuality, and invasive surveys/questionnaires. It's worth sending an email as a heads up to the principal and ask for a meeting to discuss and answer and questions. Maintain an email communication confirming all meeting/conversation recaps, i.e.: "Thank you, Principal Smith, for confirming receipt of the (insert form descriptions) and adding them to (student name) file. We appreciate school staff honoring our parental expectations on these issues. Please contact us anytime with questions or concerns." In May of 2021, Senator Darren Bailey ( current candidate for IL Governor ) published a statement opposing SB0818. In June of 2021, Awake Illinois posted a call to action for Governor Pritzker to veto SB0818 . It was signed into law in August of 2021 . Illinois is the ONLY state adopting the second edition of the perverse National Sex Education Standards . Illinois parents can opt their children out of sex education. Districts that don’t teach it WILL NOT have to follow the new radical and perverse standards. The Illinois State Board of Eduction has until August 2022 to develop the curriculum. See the updated list of schools who have announced their 2022 sex ed curricula plans.
