Born to a family of Christian Arab immigrants from Jordan, and raised in Chicago, Helen has always embraced her rich heritage, with Arabic preceding English as her first language. An accomplished individual, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and works as an enterprise sales executive within the tech industry. A true community leader, Helen never hesitates to lend a hand. From her time as a dedicated Girl Scouts Troop Leader and involvement in fundraisers to assisting law enforcement with gratitude events, she's an enthusiastic advocate for parental rights and civic and economic development initiatives. Motivated by challenges in 2020, Helen co-founded a Niles Township coalition to empower parents, giving them a voice in their school board decisions. As Chapter Chair of Awake IL Niles Township and founder of Moms For Liberty's Cook County chapter, Helen tirelessly fights against harmful political ideologies and is committed to preserving childhood innocence. As determined as she is resilient, Helen finds joy in reading, problem-solving through technology, and advocating for parental rights. Protect your child from the "medical misadventure" known as gender-affirming care and to protect your child from sex activism, sex discussions, counselor discussions on sex/sexuality, and invasive surveys/questionnaires. These are the top forms Awake IL recommends for parents to add to their student's file. After signing them, send as certified mail to the attention of the school principal. It's worth sending an email as a heads up to the principal and ask for a meeting to discuss and answer and questions. Maintain an email communication confirming all meeting/conversation recaps, i.e.: "Thank you, Principal Smith, for confirming receipt of the (insert form descriptions) and adding them to (student name) file. We appreciate school staff honoring our parental expectations on these issues. Please contact us anytime with questions or concerns." We are Awake Illinois This grassroots organization was launched by everyday parents and citizens in May 2021. During 2020, many of us "awakened " to the issues affecting our communities, our children, and our liberties. Awake Illinois chartered the first chapter in Naperville, Illinois, and is now expanding throughout all 4 corners of the state with 30+ county-based chapters . Thanks to the volunteerism of our chapter chairs and members, our advocacy is waking up Illinoisans each day while empowering citizens to elevate their voices on topics of education , equality , legislation , civic involvement, and social welfare causes.
