Awake Illinois Civic Leadership Click image to link to volunteer form . Awake Illinois is very excited to be building a team of civic volunteers who are interested in supporting grassroots efforts and pro-constitution, pro-parent, pro-common sense policies in Illinois. We are the only grassroots organization that is registered with the State Board of Elections as a nonpartisan civic organization. ​ Awake Chapters are now organized by county . ALL Chapter chairs and volunteers are encouraged to be paid members of Awake Illinois, though it isn't required. Chapter chairs will oversee the efforts of their own district and will coordinate with volunteers on various scheduled initiatives. Duties will include registering voters, hosting local mail in ballot/election seminars/meet the candidate events, and election day poll work. Regular zoom meetings will be held to discuss updates and civic initiatives. Overlap with local partisan organizations is permitted however this role will require training and commitment to door knocking and candidate support. Please be aware of your time commitment. We are Awake Illinois This grassroots organization was launched by everyday parents and citizens in May 2021. During 2020, many of us "awakened " to the issues affecting our communities, our children, and our liberties. Awake Illinois chartered the first chapter in Naperville, Illinois, and is now expanding throughout all 4 corners of the state with 30+ county-based chapters . ​ Thanks to the volunteerism of our chapter chairs and members, our advocacy is waking up Illinoisans each day while empowering citizens to elevate their voices on topics of education , equality , legislation , civic involvement, and social welfare causes. Our choices fall on a spectrum based on the best interests of our personal health situations and our families. Awake IL continually shares resources on how to advocate for your liberties and preferences, especially regarding the masking of children. Given the latest webinar by IDPH , it's clear that intergovernmental policies with ISBE and the CDC may understandably confuse parents on their rights. Many of us are also members of the Illinois Parents Union , which worked tirelessly during the pandemic to advocate for reopening our schools. We are collaborating on shared efforts to give power back to the people of IL.
